The waves of layoffs continue at Ubisoft. Fresh off the news last week that the publisher shut down its recently unionized Halifax studio, affecting 71 developers, the company is now focusing its restructuring efforts on its Swedish subsidiaries, Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm.
Ubisoft has officially proposed an organizational restructure expected to impact approximately 55 roles across the Malmö and Stockholm offices. Massive Entertainment is notably one of Ubisoft’s most high-profile studios, known for developing the ambitious *Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora* and currently leading the charge on both *Star Wars Outlaws* and *The Division 3*.
According to a statement from Ubisoft, this move is structural and forward-looking, having followed the conclusion of a Voluntary Leave Program that was launched in the fall. The company emphasized that the proposed changes are not related to the quality of recent project deliveries or individual performance.
While 55 roles face elimination, Ubisoft insists that the long-term strategic direction for the studios remains completely unchanged. They affirm that Massive will continue to serve as the global lead for *The Division* franchise and central development hub for the Snowdrop engine, signaling that critical ongoing projects like *The Division 3* are safe from disruption. The proposed restructuring is scheduled to begin with a focus on individual agreements and local employment regulations.
