Fans of the unique ball-bouncing, town-building roguelike *Ball x Pit* have something big to look forward to next week. Developer Kenny Sun and Friends has confirmed that the game’s first major post-launch patch, dubbed “The Regal,” is set to deliver a significant chunk of new content on Monday, January 26. This massive free update will roll out simultaneously across all versions of the game, including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and Switch 2.
The Regal update introduces two new playable characters designed to shake up existing strategies. The first, The Carouser, offers a unique dynamic where returning balls are able to enter an orbiting state around him. The second character, The Falconer, relies on animal companions, utilizing two loyal falcons to launch balls into the field on her behalf. Beyond the new heroes, players can also expect to find eight new balls to master, alongside several unannounced passive abilities. The developer is also teasing an additional surprise feature that will be unveiled when the patch officially launches.
This update marks the first step in a substantial post-launch content plan for 2026. Kenny Sun and Friends has already mapped out two subsequent major updates planned for the title: “Shadow,” which is scheduled to arrive in April, and “Naturalist,” expected to follow shortly after in July.
