Towerborne, The Action RPG By The Makers Of The Banner Saga, Launches Out Of Early Access Next Month
Stoic, the studio best known for the critically acclaimed tactical role-playing series *The Banner Saga*, is officially preparing to launch its latest venture, the side-scrolling co-op action RPG *Towerborne*, next month. After extensive development feedback, the fantasy beat ’em up will hit version 1.0 on February 26, arriving on PC and Xbox Series X/S, while simultaneously making its debut on PlayStation 5.
*Towerborne* puts players in the shoes of an immortal warrior named Ace, specializing in combo-heavy melee combat used to defend a crumbling city from corruption. Since its initial Early Access period began in 2024, Stoic has made a significant shift in the game’s business model. Originally conceived as a free-to-play, always-online title, the game has been reworked into a traditional, paid offline experience, though online co-op remains an option. Crucially, all paid cosmetic items have been removed, with Stoic assuring players that all customization will now be unlocked organically through gameplay.
The full release on February 26 is set to deliver a host of exciting additions. Players can look forward to a completed main story arc, the introduction of two new bosses, and an expansion of available gear and player abilities. Furthermore, the difficulty system has been overhauled, featuring a new, demanding “Brutal” setting for veterans. The 1.0 package is rounded out with an updated world map and an all-new soundtrack provided by famed composer Austin Wintory. Standard edition pricing is set at $24.99, with a Deluxe version available for $29.99.
