Thor Actor From God Of War Ragnarök Cast As Kratos In Live Action Series

The Ghost of Sparta has found his live-action counterpart. Amazon Prime Video’s highly anticipated *God of War* series has cast Ryan Hurst as the legendary protagonist, Kratos. This reveal comes with an interesting twist for dedicated fans: Hurst is no stranger to the franchise, having previously earned a BAFTA nomination for voicing the formidable God of Thunder, Thor, in 2022’s *God of War Ragnarök*. While gamers know Kratos’s voice as belonging to Christopher Judge, Hurst, who is also celebrated for his role as Opie Winston in *Sons of Anarchy*, will embody the character for the screen.

The adaptation will focus on the popular Norse sagas, starting with the events of the 2018 game. Viewers will follow Kratos and his son, Atreus, as they undertake their quest across the wilds to fulfill their promise to scatter the ashes of Kratos’s beloved wife and Atreus’s mother.

Amazon has already demonstrated significant faith in the project, ordering two seasons of the show. Production is slated to begin in Vancouver this March. Veteran showrunner Ronald D. Moore, known for helming major sci-fi hits like *Battlestar Galactica* and *Outlander*, is attached as writer and executive producer. The series is a collaborative effort between Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, and PlayStation Productions, signaling a major push for video game content following the breakout success of the *Fallout* series.
