The Last Of Us Star Discusses Neil Druckmann’s Exit From The Show

As anticipation builds for *The Last of Us* Season 3, the hit HBO adaptation faces a significant creative shift: Neil Druckmann, the co-creator of the original game universe, is stepping away from an active role after Season 2. Druckmann previously announced his departure, noting his need to shift focus back entirely to his commitments at game studio Naughty Dog.

This naturally raises questions about the future trajectory of the show, but series star Bella Ramsey has offered reassurances regarding the transition. Speaking to *The Hollywood Reporter*, Ramsey—who portrays Ellie—expressed confidence that the series is in safe hands despite the loss of one of its founding creative voices.

Ramsey emphasized that while Druckmann may be physically gone from the production team, his influence remains foundational. “I think he left us in such good stead,” she commented, pointing out that since the entire adapted world is his creation, he will always be part of the show’s “fabric.” Ramsey concluded, “He’s still there, even though he is not. So I think it will be fine.” Her comments suggest that the creative team feels fully equipped to carry forward the story based on the established, highly successful source material.
