Meta Shuts Down The Studios Behind Deadpool VR, Asgard’s Wrath 2, and Resident Evil 4 VR

In a major strategic realignment of its virtual reality efforts, Meta has confirmed the closure of three high-profile developers operating under the Oculus Studios umbrella. The studios impacted are Twisted Pixel Games, Sanzaru Games, and Armature Studio—teams responsible for generating some of the Quest platform’s most recognized titles, including *Deadpool VR*, the massive RPG *Asgard’s Wrath 2*, and the acclaimed adaptation of *Resident Evil 4 VR*.

This significant reduction in first-party content development comes amid broader cuts within Meta’s Reality Labs business. The news hit home earlier this week when developers from the affected teams confirmed their job losses across social media. Reports suggest that these were complete studio shutdowns, signaling a dramatic shift away from existing pipelines.

When addressing the cuts, Meta explained that the decision was made to strategically narrow the company’s focus. Resources previously dedicated to internal VR game creation are now being funneled toward the development of Wearables, specifically citing products like the Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses. While Meta remains committed to VR hardware, this move suggests a notable deprioritization of its internal, high-budget VR game development capabilities in favor of advancing wearable technology.
