Bungie has locked in the release date for their hotly anticipated extraction shooter, *Marathon*, officially confirming that players can begin their mission to Tau Ceti IV on March 5. The revival of the classic FPS series will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. As bio-cybernetic “Runners,” players are tasked with surviving the hostile alien environment, scavenging crucial resources, and fighting off rival player squads as well as internal security forces.
The game’s journey to this announcement has involved some turbulence since its reveal in May 2023. Originally slated for a September debut, *Marathon* was delayed indefinitely following a rocky initial Alpha test reception, requiring significant development adjustments. The project also successfully navigated and resolved a high-profile controversy surrounding unauthorized use of art in its early stages.
To bolster anticipation, Bungie also revealed the game’s extensive voice cast, featuring major industry talent. Notables include *Baldur’s Gate 3* stars Samantha Béart and Neil Newbon, alongside Ben Starr (*Final Fantasy XVI*). When it launches, *Marathon* will be available in a $39.99 Standard Edition and a $59.99 Deluxe Edition, the latter of which includes a voucher for a Premium Rewards Pass and bonus cosmetic items. Pre-ordering either version nets players exclusive cosmetics, including bonuses for use within *Destiny 2*.
