Bungie has officially stamped a launch date on their highly anticipated multiplayer extraction shooter, *Marathon*. Players should prepare to mark March 5 on their calendars as the day they finally begin their scavenging runs on the hostile planet of Tau Ceti IV. The sci-fi shooter, which sees players controlling bio-cybernetic Runners tasked with extracting resources while battling rival Runners and in-game security forces, will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
While *Marathon* was first revealed in May 2023, its journey to release has been extended. The title was indefinitely delayed from its original September launch window last year following concerns stemming from alpha testing feedback, alongside a brief but resolved controversy regarding its initial art direction. However, the game is now barreling toward release, supported by an expansive voice cast featuring some notable industry talent, including Samantha Béart and Neil Newbon (both from *Baldur’s Gate 3*), and Ben Starr (*Final Fantasy XVI*).
For prospective Runners, *Marathon* is launching in two distinct editions. The Standard Edition is set at $39.99, granting access to all fundamental gameplay updates throughout the year. Importantly, pre-ordering the game nets players unique cosmetic items for *Marathon* plus bonus Exotic rewards for linked *Destiny 2* accounts (including an Exotic Ghost, Ship, and Sparrow). The $59.99 Deluxe Edition includes all Standard Edition content, a Premium Rewards Pass Voucher, a bundle of 200 SILK tokens, and several exclusive cosmetic styles for weapons and Runner shells.
