Bungie has officially locked in the launch date for its highly anticipated multiplayer extraction shooter, *Marathon*. Players can mark their calendars for March 5, which is when the action kicks off on the dangerous planet Tau Ceti IV. The game, a reboot of the classic Bungie series, is slated for release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
This confirmed launch date provides a sigh of relief for fans, as *Marathon* experienced significant delays following its announcement in May 2023. Originally aiming for a September launch, the game was indefinitely pushed back to allow the team to address feedback stemming from a challenging Alpha test reception, alongside resolving a past controversy concerning the game’s art direction.
In *Marathon*, players assume the role of bio-cybernetic “Runners,” who must strategically scavenge valuable resources while battling both rival player-controlled Runners and aggressive in-game security forces. The game’s extensive narrative depth is supported by a star-studded voice cast, featuring big names from the RPG world, including Samantha Béart and Neil Newbon (*Baldur’s Gate 3*), as well as Ben Starr and Jennifer English.
The game will arrive in two flavors. The Standard Edition runs $39.99 and includes all future core gameplay updates. If you pre-order, you’ll receive cosmetics and linked rewards for *Destiny 2*.
