Game Freak’s Beast Of Reincarnation Team Is “Relatively Small” With Many External Developers

The highly anticipated action-RPG *Beast of Reincarnation*, which Game Freak has described as a “one-person, one-dog” adventure, appears to be a massive undertaking—one that exceeds the capacity of their core development staff alone. This scale has required extensive collaboration with outside talent to fully realize the studio’s vision.

During a discussion with IGN, game director Kota Furushima initially commented that the team responsible for the project felt “quite large,” noting that the studio was “lucky to have a lot of people working on it externally.” This was later clarified by a PR representative, who confirmed that while the overall contributor count is substantial, the internal Game Freak team leading the development of *Beast of Reincarnation* is actually “relatively small.” They retain the core leadership role, steering the project while relying heavily on numerous external partner companies for execution.

This approach of leveraging external studios is hardly unusual in modern AAA game creation. For comparison, even a title like Game Freak’s upcoming *Pokémon Legends: Z-A* utilized the support of approximately 30 different partner companies to bring the game across the finish line. Although specific headcounts for the *Beast of Reincarnation* team were not disclosed, it’s clear the ambitious scope is being managed by a broad, decentralized pool of talent.
