Thor Actor From God Of War Ragnarök Cast As Kratos In Live Action Series

The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of *God of War* for Amazon Prime Video has found its lead: actor Ryan Hurst will take on the formidable role of Kratos, the Ghost of Sparta. Interestingly, Hurst is far from a stranger to the Norse universe of the PlayStation franchise, having previously voiced the God of Thunder, Thor, in the 2022 hit, *God of War Ragnarök*—a performance that earned him a BAFTA nomination. Outside of gaming, Hurst is widely recognized for his acclaimed role as Opie Winston in the series *Sons of Anarchy*.

The forthcoming series is slated to adapt the Norse chapters of the saga, beginning with the narrative established in the 2018 reboot. The plot will focus on Kratos and his son, Atreus, as they undertake a perilous quest to scatter the ashes of their wife and mother atop the highest peak. Production is accelerating rapidly under the guidance of veteran showrunner Ronald D. Moore (*Battlestar Galactica*). The project, which has already received a two-season order, is a significant joint venture between Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Amazon MGM Studios. Following the recent success of high-profile game adaptations like *Fallout*, *God of War* is scheduled to officially commence filming in Vancouver this March.
