New Fable Could Come To PS5 On Day One

The highly anticipated next chapter in the *Fable* series, currently in development at Playground Games, might be one of the first major Xbox titles to achieve a true simultaneous launch on the PlayStation 5. Although Playground is also working on *Forza Horizon 6*, insider reports suggest that only the fantasy RPG is positioned for a day-and-date release across Xbox, PC, and Sony’s console. According to VGC’s Andy Robinson, the *Fable* team has allegedly been “targeting PS5 for a while,” bolstering the expectation of a synced launch schedule.

This strategy sharply contrasts with the approach planned for *Forza Horizon 6*. While the open-world racer is confirmed to arrive on the PS5, it is expected to do so only after a period of exclusivity on Xbox and PC. Reports cited by Robinson indicated that the racing title was deemed “not ready” for a same-day cross-platform deployment, though the accuracy of this specific rationale is uncertain.

Microsoft had previously announced the 2025 release of *Forza Horizon 6* with a confirmed staggered rollout to PS5, but the specifics of that delay window are still unknown. Nevertheless, the potential for a day-one *Fable* debut on PlayStation aligns perfectly with the broader industry consensus that Microsoft is strategically moving to release nearly all of its biggest first-party games on competing consoles.
