Peter Molyneux’s Final Game, Masters Of Albion, Gets April Release Date

The legendary creator Peter Molyneux, known for pioneering the God Game genre with classics like *Populous* and *Black & White*, has announced a firm release date for his next—and what he states will be his final—game, *Masters of Albion*. Developed by his studio, 22 Cans, this highly anticipated project is set to launch exclusively on PC via Steam on April 22.

Molyneux describes the experience as “the culmination of my life’s work,” blending real-time strategy, intricate town management, and deep simulation mechanics. Players adopt the role of a powerful deity, wielding a versatile “god hand” to design and build sprawling villages from the ground up. Unlike typical simulation games, *Masters of Albion* features no timers or mandatory waiting, allowing absolute control over the world of Albion. As a god, you can manipulate your mortal citizens—inspiring them with divine acts, punishing them with weather manipulation, or even possessing humans and animals (including chickens) to explore the world at ground level.

The core gameplay shifts dramatically when night falls. The title moves into a full RTS defense mode as players mobilize against evil creatures that emerge in the dark. Defense requires strategic construction of walls, placement of turrets, and the hiring of heroes, who can also be possessed directly by the player for real-time combat. This project is particularly significant for Molyneux, who has described it as a “redemption” title aimed at making up for past overpromises on projects like *Godus* and *Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube*.
