Asus ROG Enters Extended Reality With 240Hz Gaming Glasses

Asus has officially thrown its hat into the Extended Reality (XR) arena, showcasing its ambitious new gaming glasses at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Developed collaboratively with XR specialist Xreal, the resulting product, named the Asus ROG Xreal R1, packages high-end display technology into a sleek, wearable frame designed for immersive streaming directly to your eyes via a standard USB-C connection.

These aren’t your average sunglasses. Under the hood, the ROG Xreal R1 boasts impressive 240Hz micro-OLED lenses rendering full 1080p resolution, promising smooth, high-fidelity visuals perfect for gaming. For maximizing compatibility, the device includes an ROG Control Dock, enabling traditional DisplayPort and HDMI inputs. Crucially for existing ROG users, connecting the glasses to the popular ROG Ally is a breeze, requiring just a single USB-C cable for a seamless gaming setup.

Asus touts a genuinely massive virtual display experience through the lenses. The system delivers a 57-degree field of view (FOV), capable of projecting what feels like a gigantic 171-inch screen four virtual meters away. This extensive coverage ensures that 95% of the focused viewing area is utilized, delivering an expansive and highly focused visual portal into your gaming or media content.
